Dance is Art<\/h2>\n

When it comes to self expression it can be done in various forms: painting, music, poetry, etc. but in Edie Dunn\u2019s case it’s dancing. I\u2019ve always had intrigue for the performing arts; so I was taken aback when I saw her dancing on stage. She moves so gracefully and appears almost weightless while in the air. This was especially true when I saw her performing at the Winter Workshop<\/a>, in January 2021.<\/p>\n

It was a really big crowd consisting of members from about five different churches, including our very own DFWICC. As soon as I heard Andra Day\u2019s beautiful vocals over the speakers– I knew we were in for a treat. The disciples got riled up when they saw the three sisters (including Edie) getting ready to perform.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

I got to see them be and act in their natural element. It was a poetic dance performance that moved with the rhythm of music. The sisters\u2019 staggering dance moves required lots of energy and proper timing, coupled with Day\u2019s stunning vocals meant this was a sight to be seen. The emotions felt by the crowd reflected deep appreciation for what they saw.<\/p>\n

Art at its best is meant to invoke feelings buried beneath our exterior, it\u2019s meant to inspire and leave us in awe. When you get triggered by an artist\u2019s performance– you know they\u2019ve done a great job at getting in touch with your psyche. In the sisters\u2019 case they used the gift that God gave them to bring him glory. Judging by the crowd\u2019s reaction everyone more or less agreed.<\/p>\n

It goes without saying– but Edie Dunn is artistically inclined. God has gifted her with an amazing aptitude for dancing. Things can only go up from here, as she gets ready for the next stage in her life. Her experiences will no doubt help her become even more amazing at her craft, and I\u2019m looking forward to seeing her next performance.<\/p>\n
